How to Download Your Fathom Video

The short answer: yes, you can download your Fathom videos - all of them at once. Fathom released an official recordings API in July 2026, and TranscriptExporter (a Chrome extension and Official Fathom Partner) uses it to save your entire video library to your computer in one run.

If you just need one video, Fathom's own three-dot menu does that too - those steps are further down. But if you're here because you have 50 or 500 meetings, start with the bulk way.

Download ALL your Fathom videos at once

Open the extension's Recordings tab, pick a date range or take everything, and it downloads the actual video and audio files of every meeting your account can see - straight to a folder on your computer, named to match your transcripts. All of it through Fathom's official recordings API.

It shows you a disk-space estimate before anything starts (recordings are big - often 50-350MB per meeting), runs in the background so you can close the popup, and skips gracefully over anything your account can view but not download. In our testing, 156 recordings (about 25GB) downloaded in roughly 20 minutes, and the pipeline is proven on libraries of 4,000+ recordings.

And grab the transcripts while you're at it

The same extension bulk-exports every transcript as searchable text - with speaker names, timestamps, and AI summaries - as a single ZIP. Transcripts are what you want for searching, pasting into ChatGPT or Claude, and archiving; the video files are what you want for re-watching and for keeping the full record. The extension's "Download Everything" button gets both in one run.

Download one Fathom video, step by step

For a single meeting, Fathom's built-in option works fine - no extension needed:

Open the recording

In Fathom, open the meeting recording you want to download so you are viewing it full screen.

Click the three-dot menu

In the top right corner, next to the Share button, click the three-dot (...) menu. A dropdown appears.

Choose "Download video"

Select Download video from the dropdown. Fathom prepares the file and it downloads to your computer as a video file. Done, for that one meeting - and if you have a whole library, the bulk method above does them all.

Common questions

Can I download all my Fathom videos at once?

Yes - with TranscriptExporter. Fathom's own interface is one video at a time, but the extension uses Fathom's official recordings API (released July 2026) to bulk-download your whole library: pick a date range, see a size estimate, and the files land in a folder on your computer.

Is there a Fathom API to download video?

Yes, as of July 2026. Fathom's official API now supports recording downloads, and TranscriptExporter is built on it - respecting your account's access rights and Fathom's rate limits.

What format does the downloaded video use?

Fathom delivers a standard video file through the Download video option. Note that recordings can be large, often hundreds of megabytes to gigabytes per meeting.

Do I actually need the video, or the transcript?

For re-watching and a complete record: the video. For searching, AI analysis, and pasting into ChatGPT or Claude: the transcript. TranscriptExporter bulk-exports both - transcripts with the $29 license, recordings with the $19 add-on (included with the Pro + Video subscription), or everything in one run.
